Orca Share "Missing the subway," Set Shed EP for Nov. 13
Orca, "the San Antonio alternative indie-pop duo," put out "Missing the subway" on Oct. 30. The release sent by their publicists at Orienteer calls it "a delicately orchestrated track that delves into an honest reflection on self-sabotage and skipping plans." Their Shed EP follows on Nov. 13.
That subject is the hook for me. A song about bailing on your own plans is a small, specific idea, and small, specific ideas are where good indie-pop tends to live.
The single and the EP
Apple Music lists the single with a 2026 Open Records ℗ line. Per the release, Shed is "entirely produced by Hether" and also carries the earlier singles "skin&skin" and "Dove." Both came out, the release says, while Orca toured "in support of Love Spells' North American leg of his Love Is The Law world tour." Apple Music dates "Dove" to Aug. 28 and "skin&skin" to Oct. 2.
The release describes the duo as "pairing shimmering indie-pop with an atmospheric, emotionally charged approach to songwriting," and says their music "explores transformation, identity, longing, and renewal." With the new EP, it adds, the duo "continues to explore the messy, intimate spaces between desire and fear."

The Shed tracklist
Per the release, the EP runs seven songs:
- "Tillamook"
- "Missing the subway"
- "skin&skin"
- "Dove"
- "Shed"
- "Gloss"
- "Loverlust"
Putting the new single second, right after an unreleased opener, reads to me like a band that wants you to hear the EP front to back.
Where Orca came from
The release points back to Ladybird, the EP Orca put out on May 2, 2025, which "introduced the duo through breakout track 'Certain Feelings.'" Over the past year, per the release, they have opened for 54 Ultra, Hether, Temachii, Jackson Marshall and The Two Lips, and played "a series of Texas festivals."
That opener list is worth a second look. Hether shows up twice in this story, first as a headliner they supported and now as the producer of the whole EP. In my view, that kind of working relationship usually means a band has found someone who gets what they are after.
I'd start with the lyric video above, then circle back on Nov. 13 for the full EP.
