Kid Bookie's Cheaper Than Therapy II: Who Made the Rap-Rock Sequel

Kid Bookie sits on an ornate black couch holding a red rose under the handwritten title Cheaper Than Therapy II

Kid Bookie's Cheaper Than Therapy II is out on FLG, and its credit sheet says as much about the record as its guest list. FLG also put out X Ambassadors' label debut, "Y.O.T.H.". Bookie, a South East London rapper, released the 10-track album on October 9, 2026. Apple Music lists it at about 34 minutes under ℗ 2026 FLG, with Corey Taylor, Lady Leshurr, Rose McGowan, Kate Nash and Shona McGarty among the guests. The focus track is "Hold You Down," and a UK tour starts November 29.

The rap side

FLG's release calls the album "A 10-track collision of rap, rock, trap, metal, huge hooks and brutally honest storytelling," and points to "his early recognition on BBC Radio 1Xtra" and a MOBO Award nomination for Best Alternative Music Act. The album opens on rap. Of the first track, "H.A.T.E," he told Rock Sound: "That music is hip-hop/rap and metal, and I feel like my earlier music was experimenting with that without pressure or labels to fit." Reviewing the album for The Soundboard, Luke Nuttall wrote, "Straight-up hip-hop and trap-metal come as easily as one another."

Lady Leshurr on "Familiar"

The release bills "Familiar" as featuring "iconic UK rapper Lady Leshurr" and notes that Bookie "has known Leshurr for more than 15 years." Nuttall framed the pairing as "reconnecting peers who last worked together in 2014." Kerrang!'s Ali Shutler called it "a dreamy rap number that teeters on the edge of a breakup."

Who made it

Apple Music's song credits put Ziey Kizzy on all 10 tracks as a producer. Sid Wilson is credited as a producer on eight, every song except "Rose McGowan" and "Prettier." Kid Bookie holds producer credits on "BLAME" and "Rose McGowan." Romesh Dodangoda mixed "Rose McGowan," per Apple, and the release also credits him with additional production. In the release's words: "Production comes primarily from Ziey Kizzy and Kid Bookie, with additional production from Slipknot's Sid Wilson and Romesh Dodangoda, whose credits include Bring Me The Horizon and Nova Twins." Kizzy also features on "C.E.L.A.Y.N," and Bookie told Rock Sound he made that song with "one of my best friends, Ziey Kizzy."

Corey Taylor is credited as a co-writer on "BLAME" and "Disasterpiece." On "BLAME," Bookie told Rock Sound, "Corey and I also converse back-to-back on it in a conversation style whilst acknowledging what we both feel."

The sequel

The first Cheaper Than Therapy came out in 2021, and Kerrang! noted that "Corey Taylor returns on the furious BLAME" here. Bookie explained the series in the release: "Cheaper Than Therapy was always about giving the underdog their moments, not just me." He also gave "Prettier" a direct link back: "A sister track to the first volume's 'Pretty' record," he told Rock Sound. The release says the song "confronts domestic abuse, trauma and survival."

Shutler gave the album 3/5 and closed on a fair summary: "Make no mistake, four albums into his career, Kid Bookie is still refusing to play it safe."

"Hold You Down"

The focus track closes the album. "If I ever had a chance to make what I believe is 'modern rock n roll', then here's my interpretation of it," Bookie said in the release. He told Rock Sound it brings "a genre collision of dark trap to rock n roll."
