Jessie Reyez Releases "SOFTER," Sets A LITTLE VENGEANCE Deluxe With Samara Cyn for Nov. 6
Jessie Reyez's new single "SOFTER" is out now, with a lyric video on her official YouTube channel. It is one of eight bonus tracks on the deluxe edition of A LITTLE VENGEANCE (is more human than no vengeance at all), which Apple Music lists for November 6 under a ℗ line for FMLY, under exclusive license to Island Records. Three days before that, she starts a 13-date tour in Seattle.
What the deluxe adds
The original A LITTLE VENGEANCE came out June 12 with 17 tracks. The deluxe runs 25. Its eight new titles, per Apple Music's listing, are:
- "MADE 4 THIS"
- "GO 2 WAR"
- "FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN" with Samara Cyn
- "GOAT PRINCESS INTERLUDE"
- "SOVEREIGN LAND"
- "SOFTER"
- "I JUST WANT TO PET MY DOG"
- "COLOMBIAN KING & QUEEN INTERLUDE PART 2"
Per Island's release, these are "bonus tracks that Jessie has been releasing once a week." Four are already out: "FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN" on October 9, "MADE 4 THIS" on October 16, "SOVEREIGN LAND" on October 23 and "SOFTER" today. The other four are set to arrive with the deluxe on November 6. Island's release says the edition "pairs Reyez's hard-hitting anthems with softer, melodic moments, extending the album's knack for turning emotional chaos into song."
The Samara Cyn feature
The bonus track closest to hip-hop is "FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN," credited to Jessie Reyez and Samara Cyn and, at 3:54, the longest of the eight. Island's release calls it a standout that "perfectly captures the ache of yearning for a former lover." Genius's transcription gives Reyez the first two verses and Cyn the third, and HotNewHipHop described it as "pop R&B mixed with Cyn's style of melodic rap."
Rolling Stone calls her a "Tennessee-born, L.A.-based rapper" whose viral freestyle series drew attention from Doja Cat and Alicia Keys. She won SXSW's 2025 Grulke Prize for a developing U.S. act, per the festival's announcement, after her debut project, The Drive Home, came out in October 2024. Ebony wrote that she moves from "clever boom-bap bars to animated West Coast cadences."

Reyez's rap side
Island's release calls Reyez "a defining voice in the contemporary R&B and pop landscape," but her hip-hop credits go back years. GRAMMY.com credits Chance The Rapper and King Louie with helping her rise, and notes that she duetted with Eminem on "Nice Guy" and "Good Guy" from Kamikaze and co-wrote both. NME counts "Coffin," from her debut album, as their third collaboration. More recently, "No Boo," credited to JID and Reyez, appeared on JID's God Does Like Ugly in 2025.
The June album keeps that company. Ty Dolla $ign is on "DUSTY," and D Smoke and Lekan are on "SYNESTHESIA," per Apple Music. Island's release calls "N.Y.F.F." "a sharp, rap-sung kiss-off."
