GiGi FM Announces Debut Album 'Ventus in Anima' and Shares "Ascenda"
Ventus in Anima is out January 29, and it's all hers
GiGi FM, the Berlin-based French-Italian DJ and producer, releases her debut album, Ventus in Anima, on January 29, 2027 through her own label, Sea~rène. She wrote, produced and performed every track herself, per the album's Bandcamp credits. The first single, "Ascenda," is out now.
DJ Mag broke down the announcement on October 26, describing the album as released "via the Berlin-based artist's Sea~rène label, which she launched in 2023." The January 29 date comes from the Bandcamp pre-order page, which reads "releases January 29, 2027."
Who is GiGi FM?
- What she does: DJ Mag calls her a "French-Italian DJ, producer and multidisciplinary artist," based in Berlin.
- Her label: Sea~rène, which she started in 2023, per DJ Mag. Ventus in Anima carries the catalog number SRN005 on its vinyl edition, per Bandcamp.
- What she's known for: DJ Mag writes, "Since releasing 'Kiwi Synthesis Diary 21k' in 2021, GiGi FM has become known for her cosmic, jungle-inflected sound, shaped by drum & bass and the squat raves of her formative years." Apple dates that release to December 3, 2021.
- Her latest EP on Apple Music: the Shelter Our Time EP, out June 5, 2026, which DJ Mag reviewed that month.
DJ Mag's headline calls Ventus in Anima her debut album, and Bandcamp lists it at nine tracks. Her earlier records on Apple Music run from single tracks up to seven-song projects.
The credits
This is the part I care about most, and it's a short sheet. Here's the full list, quoted from Bandcamp:
- Written, produced and performed: "All tracks written, produced and performed by GiGi FM."
- Lyrics: GiGi FM.
- Mixing and mastering: Ahmet Altinbas.
- Analog photography: Delfina Carmona.
- Layout: Studio Phazed.
- Label line: "℗ & © 2026 GiGi FM - Sea~rène."
That's one name on every writing, production and performance credit, with one outside engineer handling the mix and the master. No co-producer is listed anywhere on the page. For a credits nerd, that makes the answer to "who produced Ventus in Anima" very simple: she did.
About "Ascenda"
"Ascenda" came out October 20, 2026, per Apple Music and Bandcamp. It runs 5:44 and sits at track 5 on the album.
DJ Mag says the song is "Inspired by the Greek myth of Astraea" and that it "celebrates the courage to rise above the chaos without losing sight of who we are."
GiGi FM explained it herself in an Instagram post that DJ Mag quoted: "'Ascenda' is about seeing things for what they are and finding the strength to rise above what tries to hold us back," she wrote. "It also reflects the heart of 'Ventus in Anima', meaning 'wind of the soul', an album about identity, the stories we inherit and discovering what lies beyond them."
GiGi FM: Ascenda (Official Visualiser)
On the sound, I'll leave it to DJ Mag, which says the album "draws on her distinctive production style, combining dub-infused electronics, immersive sound design, layered vocal compositions and field recordings."
The Ventus in Anima tracklist
Bandcamp lists nine tracks:
- Origo
- La Verità
- Do You Know
- On My Way
- Ascenda
- Cerca Waves
- Cerca Napoli
- Life's Special Dream
- Ventus In Anima
Two are out now. "Do You Know" came first, on September 29, 2026, per Apple Music, and DJ Mag notes the LP "also features the previously released single." "Ascenda" followed three weeks later.
Where the title comes from
The album is named for its last song. Bandcamp's album notes say the record is "Titled after the closing piece," and they give the same meaning, "wind of the soul," that GiGi FM gave in her own post.
Formats
Bandcamp offers a digital pre-order that comes with the two singles now, plus a double vinyl edition (SRN005). Both singles also carry her own line on streaming: Apple lists "Ascenda" and "Do You Know" as "℗ 2026 GiGi FM."
My read
Putting a debut out on your own imprint, with your own name on every production credit, says a lot about control. It's the route Steven Julien took this month with 808 PRINCE on Apron Records, the imprint he runs himself. Running your own label is an old techno move, too: Len Faki's Figure label has passed 150 releases. GiGi FM is at catalog number five. January 29 shows what she does with a full album and nobody else's hands on the production.
