Ayra Starr's 'Ms. Paper' Video Puts Theodora in the Spotlight

Ayra Starr released the official video for "Ms. Paper" today, and the guest is the name to hold on to. Theodora, the French-Congolese singer behind "KONGOLESE SOUS BBL," shares the screen on a song Ayra Starr's team calls a "stand out single" from her album Starrgirl.

The video went up on AyraStarrVEVO on Wednesday, October 28, at 11 AM ET. "Ms. Paper" is track 8 of 16 on Starrgirl, which came out August 14 on Mavin and Republic Records, according to the album's Apple Music listing.

Who is Theodora?

Theodora was born Lili-Théodora Mbangayo Mujinga in Switzerland. Her father's career moved the family through Greece, Switzerland, France and Réunion Island before a last move to the French countryside when she was a teenager, per The FADER's Gen F profile. Her brother, Jeez Suave, is her main producer, The FADER reports.

The two made her first project, Neptune, at home during lockdown. Apple Music dates it to January 2021. Two EPs followed in 2023, Lili Aux Paradis Artificiels and its Tome 2, then the album *BAD BOY LOVESTORY* in November 2024.

That album carried "KONGOLESE SOUS BBL," the single The FADER says "first took off like dynamite on TikTok." The outlet traces her influences to drum and bass, Creole folk music and Caribbean genres like bouyon, and its Gen F profile caught her in summer 2025 between dates on a run of at least 20 European festivals.

Why the feature matters

Theodora has kept busy since. Apple Music lists her on GIMS's "SPA" in January and Tiakola's "La Nocturne" in September. Those are French rooms, though. "Ms. Paper" puts her on a Republic Records release, in a video campaign aimed squarely at listeners in the U.S. and beyond.

That is the part I keep coming back to. African pop stars have been opening doors for newer names for a while, and Tyla's run showed how quickly an American audience can catch up once it is paying attention. A feature on an Ayra Starr single is a good way to get that attention.

Ayra Starr's Starrgirl year

The video lands in a strong stretch for the album. Per the press release for the video, Starrgirl debuted at No. 2 on Spotify's Top Albums Global chart and at No. 1 on Apple Music's album chart in 15 countries. The release also says Ayra Starr performed at this year's NFL London game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars, and she is Harper's BAZAAR's October Music Director.

Starrgirl also holds "Where Do We Go" (which Peggy Gou remixed), "Who's Dat Girl" with Rema and "Heaven Baby" with ZAYN, which got its own video earlier this month, per the release. Plenty of big names, then. The one I would bet on hearing a lot more from is the guest on track 8.
