Assassin's Creed Valhalla Adds New Game+ in Free Update

Valhalla gets another reason to return
The next trip through Assassin's Creed Valhalla no longer has to start from nothing. Its free Most Requested Update adds New Game+, letting players take their existing progression into another campaign run. Ubisoft announced the update on November 5, 2026, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
That is the useful distinction here: this is an update to the game players already own, not a new expansion purchase. Alongside the replay option, it changes endgame upgrades and offers an optional way of calculating character Power. Ubisoft details the additions in its official update overview.

How New Game+ and Mithril work
New Game+ becomes available after Holy Day, the final quest in the Hamtunscire region. Progression carries over, and subsequent runs increase the difficulty alongside that progression. The point is to give an established character somewhere to go, rather than ask players to rebuild one before revisiting the campaign.
Repeat discoveries have a new purpose, too. Finding gear or a book of knowledge already in your collection during New Game+ awards Mithril. Ubisoft also lists Nilfheim and the Mastery and River Raid shops as sources of the resource.
Mithril feeds the expanded upgrade system. Divine gear can reach level 27, while Wealth Chests that previously awarded Carbon, Nickel or Tungsten now provide Platinum ingots. The update makes Divine-quality upgrades available without owning Dawn of Ragnarok, opening that endgame route beyond the expansion's owners.
An optional progression change
Enhanced Progression Mode adds gear, runes and masteries to the calculation of overall Power. It is optional, so returning players do not have to accept a different progression model just to use the update. Ubisoft says enabling it brings tougher challenges and a stronger reward curve.
Valhalla also joined Animus Hub Synchronization on November 5. Engagement in supported Assassin's Creed games contributes to objectives, with rewards claimed through the Hub. Two achievements, New New Adventure and Upgrademaxxing, accompany the update, alongside three utilities bundles and the premium character packs Return from Nilfheim, Muspelheim's Flight and Champion of Alfheim.
A replay hook, not a new game
The strongest part of this package is its focus on an existing save. New Game+ gives that progress another campaign, and the gear changes give duplicate finds an endgame use. Hub integration connects Valhalla to the wider series, but the practical reason to return is simpler: there is more to do with the character you already built. This is a look at the announced changes, not a hands-on verdict on their balance.
Ubisoft's other November launch takes a different approach: Anno 117's Dawn of the Delta expansion adds a new province instead of reworking an existing campaign. Find both in KAZI's gaming coverage.
