Two of the most unique voices in southern hip hop, Young Thugand Yella Beezy, merge on their latest hit, “Headlocc.” The release comes in anticipation for the multiple projects that Yella Beezy plans to release this year, including a joint collaboration with fellow Texan rapper, Trapboy Freddy.
Constructed around a lumbering piano melody with syncopated snares, “Headlocc” calls out all of the fakes who would leap at the opportunity to turn a friend into the feds. Yella Beezy trades verses with Young Thug, who reins in his vocal acrobatics and lets Beezy shine, the Dallas native describes his desire to get revenge in explicit detail.
