Toronto’s Trae Gold and OVORiicch Unveil Collaborative Single “Hold Dat”: Discover the Latest Sound from the City’s Artists

The Toronto music scene has recently been abuzz with the emergence of two promising artists, Trae Gold and OVORiicch. Known for his high-energy performances and viral comedic videos on TikTok, Trae Gold has established himself as a prominent figure in the city’s music community. OVORiicch, a close associate of Drake and member of the OVO label, has also garnered attention with his dynamic musical style and recent co-sign from dancehall artist and OVO collaborator, Popcaan. The two artists, who first met at a studio in Toronto two years ago, have since formed a collaborative partnership, releasing their latest single “Hold Dat”, an anthem celebrating the city’s vibrant music culture.

“Hold Dat” is a musical composition crafted by the esteemed Chicago-based producer, Montemarko, who has garnered a reputation for his collaborative efforts with the Atlanta-based musical luminary, UnoTheActivist. The beat of the track embodies the quintessence of rage and hyper-pop styles of music, which have been popularized by renowned artists such as Trippie Redd, Yeat, and Sofaygo.

Riicch and Trae, hailing from the gritty streets of Toronto, imbue the song with a sense of carefree living in the face of adversity, effectively encapsulating the essence of their origins. The official video for the track was shot in the native borough of Scarborough, specifically in the Heatcheck shoe store, further emphasizing the connection to their roots.
