Jaden, formerly known as Jaden Smith, has released his second studio album, ERYS. The project comes nearly two months after his EP, ERYS IS COMING, serving as the announcement for the album. Jaden does not conform to any mold and cannot be held back by boundaries defined by genre. He creates a concept album that takes advantage of a number of sounds. Emo rap holds the project together, but other genres, such as punk rock, electronic, and trap, can be distinctly heard.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, he describes that ERYS is the “story of a young man named Erys” traveling through a dystopia Los Angeles who is able to control its residents through fear. According to Jaden, “it doesn’t end up well for [Erys].” The project contains a number of high profile features, including, but not limited to, Tyler the Creator, Trinidad James, Kid Cudi, A$AP Rocky, and Willow, Jaden’s sister.
