Drake is easily the biggest act in modern-day Hip-Hop. Although many people have waves, Drizzy’s run can only be matched by his idols Jay-Z & Young Money CEO Lil Wayne. His new EP Scary Hours 2 is a treat for fans of lyrical Drake. His versatility has helped him amass much success over the years but also causes issues for his naysayers. There are man backpackers who salivate at the idea of a full-on Rap album from the Toronto artist. If this new EP is any indication of the direction the OVO boss is going, we are in for a treat. With just 3 tracks, Drake was able to shake the world as always. Social Media has been in a frenzy since the announcement.
The trifecta starts with a triumphant, bass-heavy smash entitled “What’s New“ produced by veteran beat maker Supah Mario. Drake uses a familiar flow and flexes his achievements as he details how his last year went. As a superstar, he understands that everyone wants to know what he has going on. Since moving into his plush new compound, he’s been able to stay out of the public eye. Drake’s focus has been his next release, Certified Lover Boy. Next, he tags Rap’s current MVP, Lil Baby, to go bar for bar on the club-ready single, “Wants and Needs.” This track is sure to be heard at any social distanced event you go to during NBA All-Star Weekend and beyond. In closing, Drake surely knows how to save the best for last. The 3rd and final track shows him and Rick Ross going toe-to-toe on a soulful sample-based beat.
Scary Hours 2 Shows Drake Is In Rare Form
“These days fame is disconnected from excellence”
-Drake
Drake goes off on the closing track for about 5 minutes. The rap style is reminiscent of all of his popular time stamp records. “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” truly shows why Drake is at the top of the game. There haven’t been many artists this talented lyrically that could also make a Billboard Hot 100 smash in their sleep. His vulnerable bars and impressive wordplay separate him from the rest of the industry.
