It can be simple to start a career in the music industry, but it takes work to make it successful. Numerous new, young, and energetic musicians enter the music scene every year, many of whom are expected to have successful careers. But not everyone has what it takes to become famous. Musical skill isn’t enough, and despite how cliche it seems, hard work always wins out over talent.
Our discovery of the day is the one and only Ruwanga Nirashad Samath, known as Ruwanga. Sri Lanka-born and American-based, Ruwanga found his connection with music in his native country at a very young age as he belonged to a musical family. Young Ruwanga was surrounded by some of the best musicians in the country.
His professional journey in the industry began after he dropped out from Cal State San Bernardino University to pursue his career in music, and we’ve had the honor to discover him.
Ruwanga has been making music professionally for a decade now. He has composed and produced music for over 50 movies, including the end title songs for movies such as Fast Five, Busta Rhymes, Don Omar, and J. Doe, Reality High & Gideon’s Army. He has also placed songs in movies such as TED, Spare Parts, Tower Heist, You’re Next Generation Iron, Saw IV, Christmas in Compton, Son of Morning, Doubletime & Wonder, and more.
Ruwanga has recorded with stars like Flo-Rida, Meghan Trainor, Kesha, & Kelly Rowland and has done remixes for Britney Spears, Beyonce, & Norah Jones. Ru also released his first mixtape titled “Backin20” through Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
He continues to attract many fans around the globe thanks to his talent and perseverance. He recently did charity work as a gift to his supporters. You rarely meet an individual doing that many things with high output quality. He was recently signed with SALXCO, which is a management company that also manages artists such as Doja Cat, Bebe Rexha, Nicki Minaj, Sean “Diddy” Combs, French Montana, M.I.A., Swedish House Mafia, Ty Dolla Sign, and more and we have some hints that Ruwanga has upcoming releases with some of the most prominent artists in the world.
Speaking on the announcement, He’s currently awaiting the release of “Ghetto Soda,” a dance project that will soon be available on several musics streaming services. We hope his next track will be out soon, which will undoubtedly break many records. Stay Tuned!
