OG Compass Is Summer Ready With Sizzling Single "Sunny"

Turning things up a notch is the rapidly rising-rhymer and promising producer, OG Compass! The multifaceted musician is returning following a year-long hiatus in 2022 while he plotted his next move, honed his craft even further, and recorded his sophomore project. Now making his highly anticipated return, OG Compass announces the arrival of his long-awaited and highly anticipated sophomore EP, Soleil set to release at the end of the summer.

In celebration of his recent announcement, the Ontario native makes a comeback with a magnificent new track titled, “Sunny” courtesy of Anyfield Music. The new sizzling single serves a sneak peak of what’s to be expected on his forthcoming EP. Recorded as a freestyle on his last birthday, “Sunny” is the lead single from OG Compass’ upcoming Soleil EP. In doing so, it finds OG summoning sunny days as he anticipates the summer. Penned poetically about being able to enjoy fresh summer experiences after escaping the hardships of his previous life as a street soldier. Written and composed by Compass himself, he taps the burgeoning 16-year-old beatsmith YoungSlashProd for production. The single sets the tone of the summer and what’s to come. It is driven by funky basslines, lush guitar licks, and OG Compass’ smooth cadence. Accompanied by infectious melodies, all of which combine to make a glorious rap offering.

OG Compass Speaks On “Sunny”

When speaking on the significance behind the standout single,”Sunny” and how it came about – OG Compass says:

“This track ‘Sunny’ is inspired by summer days, it’s a street soldier’s tale about now being in his brighter days, and how I constantly need to remind myself to keep my cool, because my world is ‘Sunny’ now. The song stems from a freestyle that I made on my last birthday – I hit the studio feeling nice, I was lit, and the champagne was flowing, then the beat came on, and the lyrics just came to me. I punched in the whole thing off the top – no pen, no pad, no ‘RhymeZone’ lol”.

These raved releases follow up his groundbreaking debut EP Reign. Which featured breakout bangers such as “Tell Me What’s Up” and “Don’t Wake Me Up”, and support from Billboard, Complex, and Spotify. OG Compass has a signature style and sound that moves the masses. His genre-blending musical ear evokes a euphoric feeling in his listeners. Born and raised in Toronto to first generation Ghanaian immigrants, OG Compass has always been surrounded by incredible music, culture, and tradition. In fact, as a child, he pursued his passion in music with interests in learning to play the piano and saxophone.
