Matt McGhee is ending the year off strong with the release of his “End of the Earth” music video. Back in May, the DMV artist released his album Everything Starts From Now. The song features fellow DMV creative Mannywellz and is the project’s lead single — and standout hit. The DC metro area rapper has recently even received a co-sign from area legend, Wale. The video comes on the heels of the new year.
The best thing an artist can do is stay true to themselves and their ideas, and McGhee did just that. Inspired by the hit British crime-drama series Top Boy, the video finds him posing as lead character Dushane and showing the lengths he’s willing to go to to protect the one he loves. Following the video’s release, McGhee revealed in a tweet that he remained firm on the song’s visual concept, despite receiving suggestions for it to be party or tropical-themed.
Back in September, “End of the Earth” began playing in regular rotation on 93.9 WKYS radio station in the DMV area. As a whole, Everything Starts From Now showcases McGhee’s lyricism and storytelling. KAZI also ranked this as one of the best albums of 2020 earlier this year.
