LISA CONTA, a Swedish Gambian singer, songwriter, and model, recently made her musical debut. She debuted her talents to the world with her sultry R&B album titled, Difficult. Since its release, it has garnered recognition by BBC Radio London, Foundation FM, Reprezent Radio, The Beat London, Link Up TV, Wordplay Magazine, and IGGY Magazine, among others.
As she works on her debut EP, the London-based songstress returns with an infectious house music offering titled “NEVER ANSWER,” just in time for summer.

Lisa’s trendy single was produced by MOBO Award-nominated UK music veteran, DJ Ironik (JME, Snoop Dogg, Elton John) and co-written with UK electronic soul mainstay Roses Gabor. Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Never Answer’ and how the single came together, Lisa Conta says,
“I think we all can relate to that feeling when you really need to reach someone and they’re not picking up. ‘Never Answer’ is about the frustration and irritation you feel when you’re constantly calling someone who’s not picking up your call. ‘You never answer’ was the first line that came to my head as soon as I heard the beat, so we decided to keep it and built the song out from there. It was a real honour working with Ironik and Roses on this one.”
The Musical Family
Lisa Conta, who was born and raised in Stockholm now lives in London. This soulful songstress comes from a musical family. Her grandfather, Demba Conta, is one of Gambia’s biggest music stars. As well as her father Eddie Conta, who is known for hits like “Dongoo” and “Manyoo.”
Her passion for singing and absorption in her family’s musical heritage led her to join her school choir at the age of ten. She began to create her own sound throughout her adolescence. She was influenced by R&B icons such as Brandy, Whitney Houston, and Aaliyah.
What’s Next?
The sought-after model signed to iconic modeling agency Storm Models. The artistic beauty has already graced the pages of Wonderland Magazine, British Vogue, ELLE, and The Observer, among others.
During the lockdown, Lisa has been working on her debut EP, alongside her modeling career. The R&B-tinged “Difficult” is our first taste of the album. Now, we have the brand new infectious house number “Never Answer,” introducing us to Lisa Conta’s eclectic multiverse sounds. Lisa Conta’s EP is set to be released at the end of the year.
