Lil Romo, Lil G Slim, & M.T.G. Are Carving their own Lane In Chicago

Chicago is home to some of the dopest artists in the game. The Chi has a tough reputation, but some talented rappers have translated the hurt in the area. Lil Romo, Lil G Slim, and M.T.G. are the next three up from the midwest’s windy city. All the lyricist have their respective styles and movements that have led them to receive their record deals. It’s a lot of upcoming artists, but it is not many who are making moves that stick. These three have what it takes to transition to the next level.

Lil Romo is from the south side of Chicago (Englewood) grew up in a one-parent household with 2 brothers. He’s been making music since 11 years old. He stated, “Now it’s become a hobby. Growing up was tuff tho. Living in low-income housing and waking up to there barely even being any food to eat”. His latest single “Long Time shows him at his most vulnerable. He and Duke Da Beast spill their heart out while rapping about their fallen friends. Chicago’s Lil Romo does a great job of leaving it all on the track. His future looks promising.

LilGSlim is an upcoming artist from Chicago’s East Side(Jeffery Manor). He was once a promising basketball star in Chicago, but after an injury and the death of his father, he decided to vent through making music. He currently has a viral song on social media titled “Onnat Car.” The trunk-rattling single is sure to make anyone want to jump around and get active. There is a sound that many rappers chase, and LilGSlim is in the lead. He has an undeniable hit that will live for a while. His new deal should help him bring his talent to a broader base.

M.T.G.

M.T.G.

M.T.G. is from the Southside of Chicago(Woodlawn). “I got in trouble when I was 16 from hanging around my neighborhood. Boot camp was where I wrote my first songs. I would charge the other guys to write their raps.” It turned into a hustle. He has recently released a new record, “Only Fans.” The record has landed him a new label deal. Although his sound is smooth, he still knows how to tap into various sounds. He takes pride in his knowledge of the music industry and looks to grow more as an artist with this new opportunity.
