Today, Los Angeles native Kyle Banks teams up with Crenshaw rapper Correy C for “Promise.” The song boasts production from XL and frequent collaborator Meez, who’s worked with the likes of Cozz, Bas, and J. Cole.
Kyle Banks describes “Promises” as “the saddest song [he] ever made.” On the first verse, Correy raps: “Had to live and learn from the trenches / All my niggas started, never bitchin’.”
“Promise” samples the intro on Nipsey Hussle’s “I Do This” featuring Mozzy and Young Thug. On March 31st, the Slauson rapper, entrepreneur, and role model was tragically shot and killed. Nipsey laid down the blueprint for not only L.A. artists and businessmen, but young entrepreneurs globally. Hussle will forever be known as a mogul that left his undeniable mark on the world.
Last month, Kyle Banks dropped off his second single of the year, “Calabasas.” Correy C, who debuted Digital Scale last year, recently finished his tour run with Dreamville rapper Bas. The two artists collaborated numerous times in the past.
