Kota The Friend has been keeping his listeners content this year with a steady stream of releases. As a follow up to the drop of his EP this past January comes his latest full-length album titled, Everything.
In an interview with The Big Bang Show, the New York Rapper shares that the album title is a reflection of how far he has come and where he hopes to go, along with the different perspectives of close friends. “This [album] has so many different voices on it, because, I can’t tell this story by myself. I need all those voices so we can all tell this story together. This is the story of everything, what we need as a people, and what connects us.” He states.
The many different voices Kota the Friend alludes to are the range of features he has throughout the album. Bas, KYLE, Joey Bada$$ are just a few of the artists one can expect to hear on the project. A pleasant surprise is also found through interludes from actors Lupita Nyong’o and Lakeith Stanfield. With the backdrop of soothing acoustics, the actors both share what they value and offer wisdom in their answers to the question; What does everything mean to you?
Overall, the album offers a boost of positivity in some otherwise crazy times. The 12-track project is the perfect summertime soundtrack filled with inspirational lyrics and soothing production that will leave one feeling at ease and inspired to go after their dreams.
