Jiubel Returns To Talk Debut EP
- Hey Jiubel! It’s great to have you back here at KAZI Magazine! Let’s jump right in! What’s life been like for you with all of the success surrounding your raved record, “Scooby Doo”.
“Life has been great. I’ve just continued to do the usual which is create more music. My fans have shown so much support and they love “Scooby Doo,” I’m very grateful for them. I always look forward to waking up because of them”.
- Your latest offering was inspired by J. Cole’s “Lost One’s”, what about the “They say everything happens for a reason / And people change like the seasons” stuck to you and what was that moment of building off that verse like?
“That specific line stuck out to me because I could just relate to it so much. As humans, we change like the seasons; the seasons affect our mood and even change the way we go about our days. Building off that verse really made the song come together with ease”.
- How does your new trendy track “Orange Trees” differ from “Scooby Doo”?
“It differs because of the tempo. The tempo in “Scooby Doo” is way faster which makes you feel like you’re going crazy. It almost makes you want to run a mile. “Orange trees” just makes you vibe in a more mellow way”.
- Can you talk us through what the studio session was like creating “Orange Trees” ?
“The studio session for “Orange Trees” was actually one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had while creating music. My friend Oscar Scheller was in Miami for a couple days so he invited me over to his airbnb. When I arrived, we just started vibing and listening to beats he had created. He showed me this super fire beat and that later became the beat to “Orange Trees.” We grabbed the laptop, mic, and headphones and I recorded the song in the closet of the room in his airbnb. The closet was the best place we could record the song since it was very quiet in there”.
- With this new single, you revealed the release date for your debut project dropping November 11th. What can fans expect from your debut?
“My fans can expect to hear a version of myself that hasn’t been heard yet. The 3 new songs on my EP sound nothing like the ones that I have out right now. I’m very excited to see what they think of it”.
- Was there a significance on dropping your debut on November 11th (11/11)? Are you into astrology?
“I’m not into astrology, but I do think there may be some type of significance behind it. The date 11/11 is like the time 11:11. Whenever I look at the clock and see that it is 11:11, I make a wish”,
- Furthermore, how do you remain so creative?
“It just comes to me. I don’t force creativity. I will never force myself to make music. I only make music when I’m feeling it. There are days when I’m not feeling it, and when that’s the case, I just take my mind off of music and I go play video games or I go stare at my fish tank. Playing video games and staring at my fish tank weirdly inspires my creativity”.
- Lastly, eager to hear more! What’s next for Jiubel as we close out 2022 going into 2023?
“Next, expect to hear me on a lot more genres of music. I also expect to see myself perform live for the first time in 2023. 2023 is going to be a movie!”
