Jay Blaze, Global Sound Music is not simply the name of his record label. The fast-rising CEO and artist is doing all he can to go global. Recently, he dropped his visual “Poppin,” which is 1 of the 30 visuals he did for his 30 for 30 campaign. Any artist that is willing to do something this daring deserves some recognition. Like most Jay Blaze and Zaku’s pre-pandemic visuals, Bobby Skyz’s verse on “Poppin” was shot in Southeast Asia. The production took place in Manila, to be exact. Jay Blaze and Zaku look forward to returning to the region to create again once they safely do so.

The music is solid, and the work ethic is unmatched. Many people try music but do not give it 100%, Jay Blaze is not one of those people. His newest onslaught of music has been received well. Moreover, he is not looking to take his foot off the pedal anytime soon. The mindset is usually quality or quantity, but if you can make quality at this rate, why stop? That is what will take him over the edge. Our latest conversation helped us learn more about the Global Sound Music CEO.
Check out our conversation with him below!
What city are you from/ Where are you based now?
Jay Blaze: Los Angeles, CA born and raised and still going strong in these LA streets
What is your artist name & how did you get your artist name?
Jay Blaze: Growing up with my friends, we were super into Jay – Z & Just Blaze-produced songs. My friend started calling me Jay Blaze because my style mirrored the energy of them combined, and it just stuck, as they say, the rest is history. My real name is Jazon Jackson.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music?
Jay Blaze: I had a sales job at At&t around the age of 21, and I met so many artists, rich and poor, and I noticed they were all super into chasing their dreams. I started to feel like I was missing my calling, so I quit my job and went fall force into the music business and never looked back.
Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?
Jay Blaze: 100%. I moved around LA a lot, from Inglewood to Beverly Hills and everywhere in between. I have friends from all walks of life, and my sound reflects that. Furthermore, I love that my music can fit in any crowd of people because it was so well-rounded. I also make songs for different audiences, as they say, “Know your audience.”
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
Jay Blaze: West Coast Hip Hop/ Rap turned Global Sound
What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?
Jay Blaze: Leaving a legacy behind through music and music videos is my greatest gift to others.
What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?
Jay Blaze: An artist can tell their story using beats and melodies to paint a clear picture and show raw emotion, like a movie but with words. I get super inspired by artists who chase their dreams and delivers their messages no matter the odds. From Jay – Z to Nipsey Hussle, we all gotta start somewhere.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
Jay Blaze: I like to travel, play Xbox (when I find the time), snowboard, and really relax. My life is so busy sometimes, relaxing is the best hobby. I stay creative by always learning a new way to express myself. Gotta reflect and stay connected to your inner truth and purpose.
What were you doing before music & who influenced you to make your own?
Jay Blaze: Sales at At&T #1 Salesperson in the country, baby!
That’s easy, hmmm! LL Cool J, Puff Daddy aka Diddy Aka Love LOL, Jay – Z, Nas, Ice Cube, and so many more.
What are some of your music career goals for the future?
Jay Blaze: I want to go PLATINUM shortly and perform at Coachella and a bunch of other music festivals like Rolling Loud with my team and turn my label into a Mini Major with label distribution and brand partnership. From all directions!
Tell us the name of the project you are currently promoting? What inspired this project?
Jay Blaze: My new album is called “Point Of No Return,” and the lead single is called “Poppin.” This album marks the end of this journey and the beginning of a new one. “Poppin” keeps things going during the Pandemic. “Even in a drought, we stay Poppin” – Jay Blaze F/ Bobby Skyz & Zaku they add the global touch of realness, and that is why I think people love the song and the spirit/ energy of the song. It will be out on August 6th.
What is this project about in your own words?
Jay Blaze: Moving Forward at all cost and never looking back!
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
Jay Blaze: Being recognized by my peers and people I’ve looked up to for so many years. Having my music played in rotation throughout NYC & Sirius XM. Just touching the people with my music.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.
Jay Blaze: A new collection from my non – profit fitness brand #HaterzStayBack, which my girlfriend @iamvanessabraun designed and runs. We just dropped, so keep your eyes out for some major people wearing it.
