Hudi enjoys being diverted. In fact, the NY-Native rapper-singer-producer from Manhattan’s Washington Heights has released the title track from his debut mixtape Holy Smokes! The collection was created in his most creative environment, at home. Where he may watch a movie, play video games, read, and even take a shower while working on the tracks.
His self-produced tracks are precise and exquisitely swift. It’s difficult not to leave a Hudi song with an ear-worm. As for his early fans, they would agree. Hudi’s 2019 single “Rain” has been streamed over 6.5 million times, while his 2020 track “WOODCHUCK!” has been streamed over 5 million times across platforms. When speaking on the significance of his latest release, Hudi goes on to say:

“I think sonically the whole thing mixtape started with the title track ‘Holy Smokes!’ and the goal was to hone in on the one sound in hopes of being more authentic to the kind of music I like and grew up with.”
The start of Hudi’s artistic journey began as a child who grew up with his grandmother listening to 50 Cent, Jay-Z, The Neptunes, Missy Elliott, and Eminem through his walkman headphones. The rising rapper began his passion as a child, but he first experimented with music in secret. In doing so, he would borrow his mother’s (she sings, teaches vocal coaching at NYU, and once wrote for The New York City Jazz Record) blue snowball mic. In addition to messing around with Garageband and Logic in his own room.
Hudi learned how to make music on YouTube before releasing his debut effort at the age of 17. After being discovered on Soundcloud for a few years, Hudi was connected to his current manager, who also happens to be a former student of his mother’s. Hudi’s 2020 debut EP, TSAR received positive feedback from MTV, Early Rising, and Fashionably Early. Overall, his talents have already gained him playlist recognition from Spotify (New Music Friday, Fresh Finds; Anti Pop) and Apple Music. (Chill Rap; Emo Rap; Vibes).
