FireVerse, whose given name is Fabian Wayne Edwards, has demonstrated to both his fans and the world that his passion for music has been a constant throughout his teenage years. Born on November 16, 1999, of Jamaican descent, the Dancehall pop artist is a singer-songwriter and the CEO of WrldClassic Records, which was founded in 2017 and officially established the following year. In a recent interview, we had the opportunity to sit down with FireVerse and delve into his past, life obstacles, musical career, and offer advice to aspiring musicians.
We sat down with FireVerse and discussed his childhood, upbringing, and career so far:
Q: What were some of your obstacles growing up?
A: Growing up without a father was one of my most challenging times. Most of my life was with my great-grandmother, who took care of me and sent me to school, washed my clothes and ironed my uniform every Sunday afternoon for Monday morning. It wasn’t an easy role for a great-grandmother who raised all of her children, grandchildren and now her great-grandchildren. Although my father was a mighty man that worked a handsome amount of cash, he was interested in taking care of his son. My mom and grandma were around; however, it was mostly my great-grandmother who put in the work and raised me and one of my cousins who lost her mom from she was a very young child. We weren’t the wealthiest or poorest family, but we still survived, and that pushed me to go harder than ever because I wanted to make my great-grandmother happy and proud of us.
Q: Why should people know about you? What story do you have to tell? What makes you stand out?
A: I think people should know about me because I’m a talented musician at creating art. I stand out of the crowd because I am me; I do it for the love of music and not because of what I can gain from it. All my life as a teenager, and the stages of my life, I fought to be who I am today. My life wasn’t handed to me; I had rough days and nights because I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth. I believe God did this for me, so I appreciate it, and through him, I stood tall as a soldier and fought my own battles. I’m blessed that I understand life and know what it takes to be a very successful individual if you want to make it these days.
Q: What were the biggest challenges you’ve faced, and how did you overcome them?
A: Some of the biggest challenges I faced were attaining a solid team and a recording studio where I could go and record my songs. Unfortunately, I didn’t have that privilege in my career, so it was hard for me as an independent musician who struggled to try to promote my songs myself. Reaching out to promoters for gigs and trying to reach out to radio DJs to play my music was a struggle as I didn’t have much support. Everybody needs money, so I learned to overcome financial struggles by saving and eating less to invest in my music to keep up with my dream career.
Q: What wisdom would you want to share with others?
A: I’d love to share that no matter how rough life may get, it’s not forever. Life is a lesson, and we all have to learn it every day.
Q: What lessons can people learn from you?
A: Stay focused and ahead of the game. You’ll notice the change in the gain. Keep pushing because life comes with many obstacles, so ladies and gentlemen, little girls and boys, keep focused and keep your eyes on the prize. When your parents d you to school, don’t waste time not listening because time is precious. Take in your education because life will keep getting harder, as far as I can see.
Q: Where do you see yourself in a few years?
A: I see myself as a very successful individual in the coming years.
Q: What are some of your dreams and aspirations?
A: One of my dreams is to own a private school for all who can’t afford to pay school fees. I also hope to use the money I make to invest in different companies to own a couple of investment properties worldwide.
Q: How can people find you on social media?
A: People can find me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Feel free to reach out and engage with me @Fireversemusic.
