He should be regarded as the main piece of a music line up, not just “a feature.” For years, I have always loved the smooth melodic voice and brilliant songwriting $ign portrayed in his projects. He makes sex sound so intimate yet complex with witty metaphors and succulent vocals.
$ign is more than just a “feature”
The latest release from Ty Dolla $ign is not only among R&B’s best releases but it might be a top-three album to drop this year. Studded with multiple notable features, decorated with amazing production and guitar riffs, dazzled with $ign’s signature drops that add a Hershey’s kiss to every song. “Featuring Ty Dolla $ign,” is a masterpiece, a very smooth listen.
The biggest seller about the LP from my perspective is the nostalgic overall vibe “Featuring Ty Dolla $ign” curates. Not just from the groovy, guitar-laden samples but also the purple Jimi Hendrix themed cover art, the placement of each track, the perfect juxtaposition of each feature, and the overall aura of hearing $ign’s “Oooo Yeah” through the project made me feel good. For the second time this year, an album gave me goosebumps due to pure music bliss. The other album was Big Sean’s “Detroit 2.”
To put it simply, “Featuring Ty Dolla $ign” along with “Detroit 2” really stuck out to me because it was easy from the first listen that the music was made from a personal standpoint. A lot of 2020 releases felt as if it was purely a cash grab. Ty wanted to prove that he is not only just an outstanding feature artist but also a current iconic main act.
Some personal favorites out of the expansive twenty-five tracks include “Spicy” ft. Post Malone, Temptation Ft. Kid Cudi, Double R Ft. Lil Durk, Real Life Ft. Roddy Ricch & Dj Mustard, and Universe Ft. Kehlani. If I had any complaints about the album, maybe the last couple of tracks could’ve been added to a deluxe release.
The project is the closest I’ve heard along with “Detroit 2” to a album that can be considered a “classic” looking back at 2020 years from now. So please, put R E S P E C T on Tyler Dollar Symbol’s name! PERIOD.

Cons: The end of the LP felt dragged but the last few tracks but they’re not bad at all.
