As a surprise to most, Daniel Caesar came out of nowhere with the release of CASE STUDY 01 a ten-track album that boasts features from Brandy, Pharrell Williams, Sean Leon, Jacob Collier, and John Mayor.
Many believe Caesar’s first album Freudian was one of the best projects of 2017. Since then, the Toronto artist has been under scrutiny for his defense of YesJulz and his criticism of black women in America. This is probably one of the many reasons that he was so low key with the release of his sophomore effort.
All things aside, CASE STUDY 01 offers a fresh selection of sounds but stays true to the romantic R&B style that made Caesar endearing to fans on his debut album. On top of that, Daniel Caesar also experiments more with an electric sound on this project, attracting new fans from all genres.
