CNN and TMZ report an investigation has been opened at the Chicago Police Department in regards to Jussie Smollett’s case, after allegations of leaked false information.
“I would like to point out that a lot of the information out there was inaccurate and there were numerous agencies involved in this investigation,” said Sergeant Rocco Alioto with the Chicago PD Office of Communications. “As a standard procedure when there are allegations of information being leaked, an internal investigation has been opened and we are also looking at our vulnerabilities.”

Chicago PD are not the only ones facing drama in this case. It’s reported that several hospital staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where Smollett was admitted on Jan. 29 after his alleged attack have been fired for improperly reviewing the actor’s medical chart. One of the nurses believes it was a misunderstanding, according to CBS Chicago, as she never reviewed Smollett’s chart; however she was fired last week. That nurse believes many others are in the same predicament.
Smollett reported to police in January that he was attacked by two men who beat and yelled racial slurs at him, tied a noose around his neck, and poured an unknown substance on him. Reports later revealed the two brothers were paid by Smollett to stage the attack. The “Empire” actor has since been indicted on 16 felony counts for allegedly lying about hate-crime attacks.
