Afro Carnival Returns

Yes, it’s true! You heard right. The largest and most recognized Afro-Caribbean celebration, Afro Carnival, is returning to New York City on September 12th at the iconic Coney Art Walls in Brooklyn!

Following a long year break during lock down, now that outside opened up so did the festivals! The festival is powered by BT Group and anticipates a minimum of 3,000 people in attendance.

Star-Studded Afro Carnival Stage

The line up is gearing up to set the stage on fire with headlining performances! Musical performances include Busiswa, L.A.X., DJ Tunez, Kddo, and Voice. Kicking off, L.A.X. performed favorites like “Ginger” and pumped up the crowd to new heights. With fan favorites like “eWallet,” KDDO had the crowd going berserk.Next, Busiswa delivered, and her choreography was flawless. In fact, DJ Tunez even joined Busiswa on stage to dance when she played oldies like “Coming.” The crowd awaited the headliner, Starboy himself, Wizkid, after all of the opening artists had performed. The crowd began chanting “Starboy” louder and louder until Wizkid took the stage, eliciting screams and sobs from fans who had waited all day to see him play.

Next, the show stopping performances aren’t the only thing the festival will be having. In fact, cultural festivals, carnival masqueraders, face painting, art installations, merchants, and a variety of other activities will complement the festival. Set to host the dancing atmosphere is afrobeats pioneer DJ Tunez and friends.

Where It All Began

Since its debut in 2016, Afro Carnival has continued to promote unity among New York City’s diverse population, as participants from all walks of life come together to enjoy a day of incredible music, food, and cultural expressions from across the world. Overall, from the rhythmic pulse of the drum to the elegant sway of carnival masqueraders showing real Caribbean style and grace, the celebration flawlessly weaves together the spirit of Afro-Caribbean customs.
