Afro Carnival, the biggest and highly acclaimed Afro-Caribbean festival returned to New York City on August 21st at the historic Coney Art Walls in Brooklyn! After a year hiatus the festival powered by BT Group expects upwards of 3,000 in attendance. As a result, to celebrate the ongoing evolution of Afro diasporic culture.
The festival features musical performances from a slew of artists. First, Nigerian Afropop star Adekunle Gold fresh off his recently released single “Sinner” with Lucky Daye. Also, her majesty the queen South African artist Busiswa. Who recently appeared on “Black Is King”. Additionally Ghanaian dancehall superstar Stonebwoy, Saint Lucian Soca artist Teddyson John hit the stage. Next, Ayo Jay, Ricky Blaze, Haitian Lova, Jamaican artist J. Anthoni and more close it out. In addition to cultural festivities, carnival masqueraders, face painting, art installations, vendors and more. Along with a host of activations will complement the dancing atmosphere. Which is created by the festival’s host and afro-beats pioneer DJ Tunez and friends.
Overall, establishing itself in 2016, Afro Carnival continues to create a sense of harmony amongst New York City’s melting pot. Attendees from all walks of life come together to enjoy a day of amazing music, food and cultural expressions from across the diaspora. Lastly, enjoy as the festival seamlessly weaves together the essence of Afro-Caribbean traditions.
