Minority-owned record label, 86 Records is led by four service veterans that bonded over their love for music, particularly the 1980s – hence their name. As natural leaders, partners Josue Prosper, Denis Debranche, Joel Strickland, and Jesus Castillo are committed to fostering a culture of excellence in the music industry with their imprint.
The label launched in 2017, and since its inception, the company has been determined to create a platform for music artists that values integrity and discipline. 86 Records prides themselves on teamwork and cohesion, offering services beyond music production and distribution, including financial literacy, mental health, resume building, investments, and more.

All business partners have a shared taste in music with similar military backgrounds. Which equated to priding themselves on teamwork, discipline, and cohesion. Being influenced by high-profile figures in the industrY. As a result, they drew inspiration from other label owners, such as Quality Control Music Group. Assisting them to realize their eye for finding and fostering talent. 86 Records is looking for artists with passion, work ethic and self-awareness. In addition to knowing what skills are needed for them to develop as better artists.
From Serving Their Country to Serving Up Hits
Through countless recording sessions with various artists in their studio, the founders understood their capacity to help and guide musicians. R&B pair Channel7, Hip-Hop artist/engineer Young Prototype, and Hip-Hop musician Timmy Takeova are among the artists on the 86 Records roster. Before joining the label, each performer had pre-existing contacts with the owners.
