The decision to self-title her debut album, as revealed in a conversation with Cosmopolitan, embodies her desire to imprint her name and unique musical identity among her listeners. Her distinctive sound is a fusion of various styles and genres, blending R&B, pop, rap and jazz. This blend was inspired by the music that soundtracked her youth, allowing her to express herself uniquely into music form.

In anticipation of the highly awaited album’s release, Tyla has shared a preview with five pre-released tracks, led by her Grammy-nominated single ‘Water.’ This track skyrocketed to success, claiming the top spot on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart and securing a notable No. 10 position on the Billboard Hot 100. This achievement set her name as the highest-charting African female solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100—a testament to her undeniable talent and resonance with global audiences.
