Towa Bird has released "Deep Blue," a standalone single about her sister Cat, alongside a self-directed video featuring the pair. The song arrived November 6 through Interscope Records after Bird introduced it to audiences during her Gentleman Tour.

Bird wrote the track with Patrick Wimberly and Donna Missal, with Wimberly handling production. Rather than introducing another album campaign, the release presents the song as a focused reflection on a relationship that continues across distance.

"'Deep Blue' is a song about my sister Cat," Bird says in the release. "It is about our bond, seeing each other through major live events and feeling emotionally tethered no matter the distance."

A family connection on screen

The accompanying video puts that connection at its center. Directed by Bird, it features the singer and her sister, giving the song's subject a direct presence in the visual rather than leaving the relationship entirely in the lyrics.

According to the announcement, Bird performed "Deep Blue" throughout her recent headline run, where it drew an enthusiastic response. The studio release now brings that tour selection to listeners outside those rooms. Listen through the official release link.

After Gentleman

The track follows Gentleman, Bird's second album. The release frames that record as a reworking of the title's traditional archetype through queer confidence and romance, expanding on the guitar-centered world of her debut American Hero.

Bird began playing guitar at twelve and formed her first band as a teenager before studying at Goldsmiths, University of London. She later left school to pursue music, initially producing and co-writing for other artists. Her major-label debut, American Hero, arrived in 2024.

"Deep Blue" narrows the focus to one bond within that larger story. With Bird directing the video as well as sharing the songwriting credit, the release keeps both the song and its visual close to the relationship that inspired them.
