ELI 1000 Rebels Against The System In His Latest Music Video For “Job”

After a year long hiatus, New Jersey rapper Eli 1000 is picking up where he left off with the drop of his latest single “Job.” In conjunction with the single is a music video directed by Brittney Briggs, who has also worked with artists such as Wiz Khalifa.

The music video starts off with Eli 1000 losing his job as a mechanic. His newfound unemployment is then followed by him experiencing unfair treatment by store clerks and police while chanting the catchy phrase; “YOU NOT ON YOUR JOB!” Even through the song is upbeat in nature with an infectious hook, Eli 1000 makes note of how the track and video also aim to portray his views on social issues.

“I like this video because it’s my first video with an actual story. The whole theme is based off of being on your job. Right now, the police are doing a disservice to Black people. The energy in the song generates from some of my frustration. At the same time, I was letting my boastful side show as well because why not?”
