Toronto Artists Trae Gold And OVORiicch Drop Single “Hold Dat”

Trae Gold and OVORiicch are both up-and-coming artists from Toronto that have lately been making a lot of noise. Trae Gold is known in the city for his mosh-pit-inducing music and his funny, light-hearted TikToks. OVORiicch is a close friend of Drake and an OVO affiliate who has been making big waves in the city. Riicch was recently co-signed by the dancehall legend and OVO artist, Popcaan. The two artists met at a studio in Toronto around 2 years ago and began collaborating on songs ever since, now dropping another Toronto anthem called “Hold Dat.”

“Hold Dat” was produced by a Chicago producer named Montemarko, who has been known to collaborate with Atlanta music legend UnoTheActivist. The beat itself emulates the rage and hyper-pop styles of music that have been popularized by artists like Trippie Redd, Yeat, and Sofaygo.

Riicch and Trae come from the trenches of Toronto and the song emulates this, focusing on their carefree lifestyles in the face of rough surroundings. The official video was shot in OVO Riicch’s native borough of Scarborough in a shoe store called Heatcheck.
