Geno Five apprehensively navigates a confusing situationship in new single

When Geno Five said any line from his new single “Gettin’ Played,” I felt that. The Englewood, New Jersey wordsmith is known for his hard-hitting punchlines and clever wordplay, but a song like this shouldn’t come as a shock what with his last project being titled The Feels.

“Gettin’ Played” is about a situation we can all relate to. We feel for someone, they feel for us, but because we all can be troubled in learning each other’s love languages mistakes happen and confusion grows. I mean, listen to the first line. “I’m pursuing something romantic when I am unavailable, dammit, what am I dating for?” Why are we like this?!?

“The way I love her company, misery’s making fun of me.” There’s gem upon gem in this two minute, 58-second outing produced by .blank. He’s not a full sadboy, but he’s not totally bossing up either. He embraces the tension and uncertainty, and that internal conflict shines through authentically. He even flexes the vocals a little bit, we hear you king.
