Whenever Arizona gets a point on the board, I do my best to celebrate it. Although the state is normally known as the spot to find your new favorite Rap-Act, the talent is there and not all that hard to find. After Injury Reserve & Lil Qwery held the flag last year, Tempe native Hotelroom steps up for his turn, as he cashed in some of that buzz for a collaborative tape with buzzing underground artist, Lucki, by the name of Hell Never Mattered.
Clocking in at 4-tracks — with 3 of them including Lucki — the EP is short, but nowhere near light. Throughout these 4-songs, we see Hotelroom completely immerse himself into the idea of holding his own alongside an underground heavyweight like Lucki. While others would buckle — and some in Lucki’s position may ease up on the gas — the duo chooses to do neither, instead displaying a keen chemistry that is worth being explored if not for more than just a few more loose singles.
In all, Hell Never Mattered is one of the more surprisingly impressive EPs of the new year. Press play below and get hip to the movement.
