SVMI Taps Into His Humor With New Single

SVMI, a fast-rising Manchester rapper, is excited to share his brand new track, “P.O.P (Hold It Down)”. This exciting news comes shortly after recently signing to NQ Records, a leading Northern music and entertainment label (Aitch, WhyJay).

Following the success of his viral hit song “Bait Lies,” which has accumulated over 3 million plays. Other tracks like “Old Friends” and “Timeout,” have also garnered strong support from BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, GRM Daily, Link Up TV, Mixtape Madness, and BBC Introducing, among others.

SVMI Holds It Down

The LiTek-produced single, “P.O.P (Hold It Down)” is an infectious melodic rap track with smooth R&B leanings. All of which is underpinned by a bouncy bassline and lush synths. SVMI is showcasing his catchy flow, rap skills, singing talent, and pop sensibilities.

His undeniable talent has helped him become one of Manchester’s most promising young prospects this year.  As SVMI describes it,

This song means a lot to me, I think it really does show how much I’ve improved as an artist and developed both lyrically and creatively”.

SVMI admits that the inspiration for the track’s title, ‘P.O.P (Hold Me Down)’ came from the popular Donna Goudeau ‘I’m legally blind’ meme. The record is also influenced from a desire to go on an unplanned ‘baecation’ with someone new. After the past year of lockdowns and travel restrictions we’ve experienced, we can all relate.

SVMI Puts On His Director’s Hat

The accompanying music video, directed by SVMI and Archie Erskine, brings the track to life. It captures a day in the life of a young creative who enjoys the process and is unfazed by it all. When speaking on the creative direction behind the visual SVMI says,

This video was funny, there was a lot of memories behind it, a lot of work that went into it, and a lot of good people that helped make it come alive. There are some people in the video I don’t even talk to anymore, but that’s why the vid is so special cos it just has loads of different moments from different times that make it a whole vibe. Visually, it looks crazy as well, Archie went crazy on the edit as usual and shown why he’s one of the hardest coming out.”

Fast forward to date and he is set to release his debut album. As we anxiously anticipate the release of his project, enjoy his most recent releases.
