Surfa Solo has finally released his new project Ice City. The project hosts seven tracks that serve as a glimpse into Surfa Solo’s life growing up in Oakland, California.
“I have melody-driven rap music with a west coast bay area twist,” Surfa Solo explained when asked to describe his style of music. Moreover, Ice City does a great job of showcasing the talented rhymer’s preferred sound. Each and every song transports listeners through a day in Solo’s life from the best of days with his crew, to the worst of days and losses he has taken to get where he is in life today.
Some noteworthy tracks on Ice City are the intro song “Straitjacket” which was the first single released from the project and is meant to hype up lady listeners and “Internet Sensation” where Surfa Solo addresses clout chasers and just how much people are now willing to do for a few moments of internet fame.
Surfa Solo On His New LP
“I gain my passion [for music] out of the feeling and journey of making music,” Solo said. “It motivates me when I’m in the booth and gives my everyday life some meaning. I can gain energy from it while also making money. It’s a vibe. My legacy inspires me to always keep pushing to leave a lasting imprint behind.”– Surfa Solo
One standout track on the project is “Tear It Off” featuring Yhung TO. The track sees the two artists spitting lyrical verses over a hyphy beat. It’s a west coast bop to say the least.
Ice City is Surfa Solo’s first full project of the year but comes after a plethora of singles. This is including his song “Back Bone” which features his long-time collaborator Rayven Justice. Justice appears again on the album, this time alongside Guapdad4000 on a track called “Why You Playing”. Futhermore, the song blends the talents of all the artists, making for a perfectly picked final track and leaving the audience with a feel-good vibe.
