British-Nigerian Rap Duo Samo Ones x Thnkn Aloud

Soaring to the top is none other than British-Nigerian rap and AfroBeats duo Samo Ones x Thnkn Aloud. Here at KAZI Magazine we would like to introduce to you this rising international rap group and their brand new ‘Show Colour Re‘ music video.

Capturing the essence of the single, the Mediaworx Eric Myers-directed visual comes as a perfect representation of “Show Colour Re”. The fast rising UK director delivered a vibrant and colorful visual to bring the record to life. Unfortunately, given the judgmental culture, the track and visual is utilized to express positivity. Inspiring people to be themselves. When asked, Thnkn Aloud goes on to explain:

In the song, we use ‘colour’ as a metaphor for beauty and the video is about appreciating our beautiful black women, so we wanted colour to be portrayed throughout, with the shots of us and the ladies working perfectly with the captivating colour palettes and backdrops.”

What Does “Show Colour Re” Mean?

“Show Colour Re” samples the classic 1995 fuji track ‘Show Color’ by the legendary Nigerian music King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) off his Consolidation album. Ransom Beatz produced the brand new “Show Colour Re’ single. This hitmaker has previously worked with Dizzee Rascal, Runtown, and Yung Filly, among others. The lead single is off the emerging London-based duo’s forthcoming debut mixtape titled, juice & Jokes set to release this summer.

Samo Ones

Describing themselves as fans first before artists, Samo Ones x Thnkn Aloud come highly recommended if you like the sounds of J-Hus, Kojo Funds, Wizkid or Burna Boy. When speaking on the inspiration behind their most recent release, here’s what Samo Ones had to say…

Samo Ones

the song represents showing your true colours and it is also a celebration of black women. We’re all very aware of society’s judgemental views of women, but the track pushes against that and wants to encourage women to be free to be themselves. That’s why the video opens with a black woman on a pedestal – ‘Show Colour Re’ is all about lifting up our black women in a world that wants to bring them down.”

Do yourself a favor and step outside the box! Listen to these brand new sounds! You will not be disappointed. Here at KAZI Magazine we hope you like the sounds of Samo Ones x Thnkn Aloud. For now, take a look at the brand new visual below.
