Yung Mal has a come-up, unlike many others in the game. Growing up in Atlanta is not for the weak. At first, seen as a young rookie in the game, Mal has positioned himself as a young vet in his city. He is now looking to take everything he has learned in the game to become a household name in Hip-Hop. His childhood neighborhood and his friends he lost over time lead him to create his latest project, 1.5 Way Or No Way. The new impressive album features guest spots from stars like Pooh Shiesty, G Herbo, Lil Gotit, Big30, and Lil Quill. The new album shows growth from Yung Mal, as he came a long way from his days of being mentored by Gucci Mane.

Mal’s new project is sure to show fans that he will not be left out of the conversation. Moreover, his maturity as a songwriter and rapper is seen throughout his latest effort. To put it simply, Yung Mal understands that his career path is much bigger than just him. He is truly ready to help elevate himself and those around him. Thankfully, his neighborhood and childhood friends are all supporting him on the way to the top. Honestly, Mal was not going to go anywhere without them. During our dope new conversation, we discussed his upbringing, new LP, and much more.

Check it out below

AD: First things first, please introduce yourself to those who do not know who you are?

Mal: Im Yung Mal, Big Pissy, Iceburg, whatever you want to call me.

AD: You were born in New Orleans but moved to ATL early. Explain what your upbringing means to you?

Mal: It was normal, not good not bad, soso. It was a struggle though, I had to adapt.

AD: You and Kino Beats have made heaters before but this new record “Walkin” with Pooh Shiesty is next level! How did that song come about and can we expect more work with you and Kino?

Mal: Kino is VERY hard! I forgot how I met him, but we built a great relationship. “Walkin” is doing way better than I expected. We are def locking in again.

AD: Although it’s a pandemic you have not slowed up. How has the pandemic affected your work ethic?

Mal: It actually made it easier because I recorded a majority of my album at my house.

AD: You have worked with Gunna, Gucci Mane, and G Herbo. Your respect level is high in the industry. Do you have any other dream collaborations?

Mal: Yes! Big ones like Jay Z, Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Ashanti, and producers like Scott Storch, Mannie Fresh.

AD: If you had dinner and could only invite 5 people whose work you enjoy(DOA) who would those people be?

Mal: Young Thug, Future, Lil Baby, Jay Z, Real Taker.

AD: What inspired your sound?

Mal: Nothing actually. I don’t know where I get my sound from, once I noticed everyone said I have a different sound or my sound I took it to the head so really just me, myself.

AD: What do you want your fans to take from your latest album, 1.5 Way Or No Way?

Mal: Just know your worth and keep working, and always think like a boss! And always try to better your situation.

AD: Do you ever take the time to look at how far you came? Also, how do you keep yourself centered?

Mal: Yes definitely do! I always do that *laughing* I keep myself centered by working, always recording.

AD: Where do you see Yung Mal in the next 3 years?

Mal: Big house in Malibu, CEO of the #1 label in the world, platinum artist, and a mentor.
