Signed to Yo Gotti’s CMG Records, Big Boogie was welcomed with an iced-out CMG chain during a dinner ceremony, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in his career. Known for his tough, honest Southern rap, he has gained global recognition.
So where did it all begin? Boogie started gaining traction at the end of 2022 when his single “Pop Out” peaked at No. 11 on the Urban Mainstream charts, and his project “Underrated” generated over 200 million streams en route to becoming RIAA certified gold.
In 2023, he hit the road on Moneybagg Yo’s “Larger Than Life” tour. When I asked Boogie about the experience, his face lit up as if he was envisioning the tour. “Man, I loved that tour. My favourite probably in the world. Me being on tour with him felt amazing. Everything he do, I look up to it. I get motivation from it. And I run with it. I put it in my way. I’d do it all over again, anytime he say come on tour, I’m there. All flowers to dude.”
Shortly after this tour, he joined the “Gangsta Art” arena tour alongside other CMG members, including Yo Gotti, Moneybagg Yo, GloRilla, EST Gee, and Blac Youngsta. This tour illustrated his growth as an artist and performer.
His latest project, “Redrum Wizard,” showcased his collaboration with industry giants like GloRilla, Lola Brooke, and DJ Drama. The 18-song collection highlighted Boogie’s versatility, blending poignant lyrics with soulful love songs and infectious trap dance anthems. When discussing his favourite track on “Redrum Wizard,” Boogie didn’t hesitate: “‘Wizard’ is my favourite. That track, it just hits different for me.” The project gained significant attention, with Meek Mill sharing Boogie’s work on Instagram, naming him one of his favourite young artists.
Building on the momentum of his recent hit “BOP (feat. GloRilla),” which has amassed 19 million views on YouTube and continues to trend on both YouTube and TikTok, Boogie remains focused and grounded. “Glo is like a little sister to me,” he said. He described the day he sent the beat to her: “The world finna go crazy, because I know what the world loves, and I know what type of energy they want from me.”
Family plays a pivotal role in Boogie’s life, especially his daughter, who keeps him grounded. “I have a big family, and they mean everything to me. They’re always around, and I take care of them.” As Big Boogie prepares to drop his new project this fall, excitement is building among fans and industry professionals. With his proven track record, versatility, and the backing of CMG Records, Boogie is set to deliver yet another impactful release. I asked Boogie what we can expect from this project. “It was my manager’s idea to make a project ‘just for the ladies.’ I love to make music for women because everybody knows it’s a woman’s world. Gotta give them their flowers. They make everything feel good.”
I also asked Boogie about his beat selection process. He shared, “I listen to anybody’s beats. Just because this person make beats, and he got a big name, that don’t mean nothing. You can’t sleep on the underdogs. They the underdogs, be harder than the people that’s big. They making music. How we make music? Like they put all their energy inside the beat too.”
In closing, Boogie had this message for his fans: “I just want to thank all my fans for their support. This new project is for y’all. It’s about growth, staying true to myself, and giving you the best music I can. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
